A New Connection: Swan Mountain Is Open

Swan Mountain is officially open!

This is a big one.

Swan Mountain officially opened Monday at noon by surprise. We wasted absolutely no time checking it out.

Many community members got out for an opening-day ride, and we're seriously excited about what this new connection means for cycling around Summit County. It isn't just another stretch of trail. It opens up new ways to connect different parts of the county, gives us more options for creative routes, and makes getting around by bike that much better.

So naturally...

We're riding it twice this week.

A Big Weekend for Spoke Riders

Before we get into this week, we also need to recognize some pretty huge efforts from around the community. We had Spoke members take on the Leadville Trail 100 MTB this weekend, while others lined up for the Breck race series finale at Arapahoe Basin.

Those are very different kinds of racing, but both represent something we love seeing around Spoke: people setting big goals, getting after them, and supporting each other along the way. Whether you raced, crewed, volunteered, spectated, or helped somebody get to the starting line, congratulations!

One of the coolest things about this community is just how many different versions of cycling exist inside it.

Some people are racing 100 miles through the mountains.
Some are lining up for local races.
Some are chasing PRs.
Some are coming out for their first-ever group ride.

It all belongs here.

Tuesday Night Social: Swan Mountain Surprise

Tomorrow's Tuesday Night Social will be a Lake lap! If you've been hearing about Tuesday nights and want to see what all the excitement is about, come experience it with us. Tuesday nights are meant to be approachable, social and a good excuse to get outside after work. This week we get to explore something brand new together.

We're Going Back Saturday

Our Saturday Social will also feature Swan Mountain this weekend. Saturday continues at its August start time of 9:00 AM, with the same no-drop, community-first approach we've built the ride around all summer. A new trail connection means new possibilities for where these rides can go, and we're pretty damn excited to start playing with them.

Seven Bikes in the Woods

Sunday morning dirt!

Sunday's mountain bike ride brought out seven riders, with Tim back in town and leading the crew.

Good trails.
Good people.
Good vibes.

Exactly what a Sunday morning should look like. There's more happening on the MTB side than what necessarily makes it onto the official weekly calendar. David is looking at Monday and Friday morning rides, while other adventures and route ideas are already being kicked around in the Mountain Bike chat. So if dirt is your thing, or you just want to see what people are planning, hop into the MTB chat and see what sounds interesting to you.

Some of the best rides don't need to be formal Spoke events. Somebody throws out an idea, a few people say yes, and suddenly there's a group heading into the mountains.

We want more of that.

Pick Your Adventure

One of the things we're enjoying most about where Spoke is heading is that there isn't one right way to be part of it.

Come cruise with us Tuesday.
Go fast Thursday.
Wake up early and ride dirt.
Join us Saturday morning.

Throw an adventure into WhatsApp and see who bites.
Or simply lurk in a chat until something finally looks too good to pass up.

A new trail opened this week.
Seven people went mountain biking together Sunday.
More adventures are already being planned.
Summer isn't done yet.

Pick something that sounds fun and come ride with us.

See you out there.
