Start Here: The Spoke Field Guide

More than a ride. A place to belong.

Spoke is a free, local-first community in Summit County, Colorado. All experience levels are welcome, along with part-time residents and visitors. Bikes bring us together; shared adventures and time off the bike keep us connected.

Your first three steps

  1. Request community access. Join Spoke and we’ll follow up by email with the private WhatsApp invitation.

  2. Find your people. Join the groups that match your interests. A quick introduction is welcome, but there’s no pressure.

  3. Choose a meetup. Check the calendar and latest WhatsApp plan. Ask about the route or pace if you’re unsure, then come say hello.

Find the latest plan

WhatsApp is the first place to check for member-led plans, weather changes, and cancellations. Formal programming changes with the season, so confirm the time and meeting point before heading out. The calendar helps you look ahead; the blog shares community stories.

Keep broad updates in the main chat and specific ride planning in the relevant group. Muting notifications is completely fine. Keep posts relevant and welcoming, and avoid repeated sales pitches or unrelated advertising.

Choose a ride that fits

Read the bike type, terrain, distance, pace, and drop or no-drop expectations. Not every ride is no-drop. For no-drop rides, respect the agreed pace and regroup points. RSVP when the event asks for it. Friends are welcome; make sure they understand the plan too.

New to riding or returning after a break? Ask questions. You don’t need to prove yourself here. Our activities include different kinds of riding, seasonal movement, and time together off the bike.

Come prepared and look after each other

Wear a helmet for rides. Bring a working bike, water, food, suitable layers, a repair kit, a charged phone, and lights when needed. Each person is responsible for their equipment, fitness, route decisions, and safety. Riders under 18 need a parent or guardian with them.

Ride predictably, call out hazards, follow traffic rules, and respect other road and trail users. Be kind, leave no trace, and speak up if something feels unsafe. See the FAQ and community guidelines for more detail.

Make something happen

Member-led rides and gatherings are encouraged. Share the date, start time, meeting point, activity or bike type, route, distance, pace, drop or no-drop plan, regroup points, and any weather backup. A clear invitation helps others decide whether it’s right for them.

You can also help welcome newcomers, host a beginner ride, take photos, or suggest a new meetup. Connection matters more than performance or status.

Photos, feedback, and questions

Community photos may appear on the website, blog, social media, or newsletter. Prefer not to be photographed or featured? Tell the organizer. Ideas and feedback are always welcome.
